Melissa DiRienzo graduated from Plymouth State University with a double major in Dance and Psychology. She received a prestigious dance award from PSU in 2007 and was named dancer of the year. Melissa trained for two years in New York while majoring in dance at Adelphi University and has worked with numerous choreographers, including Robert Battle, Lorraine Chapman, Priscilla Wagner, Joan Wiegers, Leda Merideth, and Frank Augustyne. Upon graduating, she spent the next five years performing throughout the Boston, MA, area with Enigmatic Contemporary Dance and Danny Swain Dance Company.
Melissa has been a dance instructor for over 10 years and currently resides in Mount Pleasant with her husband Tony and daughter Tessa. Miss Melissa’s positive attitude is contagious, and her enthusiasm has made her a favorite among our staff and students! She is excited to be teaching for Dance Academy of Charleston.
